When Matt and Kimberly reached out, their wish was clear: an unforgettable Christmas in France with their two boys, David (19) and Franky (9). They dreamed of Paris icons, WWII history in Normandy for the youngest, and the timeless enchantment of Mont Saint-Michel — all woven into festive cheer.
At Beaurouge Voyages, we listened — and then elevated their dream into something more: a journey where every detail was personal, surprising, and filled with soul.
Paris with a Twist
Yes, they saw the icons — Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Versailles — but never as the crowds do. With private, skip-the-line access and engaging guides, each visit became a story rather than a checklist. For Kimberly, who had walking difficulties, the Louvre was thoughtfully reimagined: elevators instead of stairs, calm galleries away from the rush, and a slower rhythm that revealed treasures often missed.
Playful touches added sparkle: an exclusive pastry tasting in Versailles, a carousel ride in Montmartre with steaming hot chocolate for Franky, and a behind-the-scenes Palais Garnier visit that brought the Phantom of the Opera to life.
Optional extras gave the family precious memories — a festive Paris photo shoot, a Seine dinner cruise along the City of Lights, and a pastry class with a true Parisian chef — while behind the scenes we arranged thoughtful details, from a hairdresser appointment for Kimberly before the shoot to gluten-free adaptations for Franky.

Every family member had their moment. Rouen: An Unexpected Festive Stop
Instead of rushing to Normandy and diving into tragic DDay events, we proposed a magical pause in Rouen. The family stepped inside the Joan of Arc Historial — a dazzling multimedia immersion that thrilled both children and adults — before ice-skating hand-in-hand at the Christmas market and watching the Rouen Cathedral blaze with a spectacular light show.
Normandy Like Locals
David’s fascination with WWII was honored through a sensitive, story-driven trail: Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Overlord Museum and the American Cemetery, brought alive by a guide who balanced history with empathy. That evening, the family gathered for a candlelit dinner in a 17th-century manor, where a private chef shared Normand recipes and WWII stories, while the boys joined in by plating dessert.
Mont Saint-Michel Magic
No Christmas in Normandy is complete without Mont Saint-Michel. After a private tour of the abbey, the family met a resident who shared what it means to live and work on this tidal wonder. Afterwards, they joined a local oyster farmer, discovering the traditions of the sea — with the children gleefully learning how to open oysters. It became not just a visit, but an adventure of flavors, stories, and laughter.

When Steve and Deborah booked our curated shore excursion from Marseille, they expected Provençal highlights. What they experienced instead was a journey woven with surprises and encounters that went far beyond the standard itinerary.
Marseille Hidden Treasures
From the panoramic heights of the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde, the day began with sweeping views over Marseille and a glimpse into the millennial history of France’s oldest city. When the guide learned that Deborah had Jewish roots, she added a meaningful stop at the Grand Synagogue of Marseille, sharing the story of the city’s Jewish community and its place in French history.
Along the way, she also discovered Steve’s passion for architecture and adapted the itinerary to include Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse and its iconic rooftop — a modernist masterpiece rarely featured in standard tours.
Cassis by Land and Sea
Instead of a simple seaside stroll, the couple set off on a one-hour boat ride through the Calanques National Park, where limestone cliffs plunge into turquoise waters. Back on land, they visited a tiny family-run vineyard, tasting whites and rosés known only to locals.
Aix-en-Provence with Flavor and Spirit
In Aix, they walked in the footsteps of Paul Cézanne, as their guide brought to life the modern art revolution he inspired. At the bustling Provençal market, she introduced them to local farmers and artisans, where they sampled olive oils, sausages, cheeses, tapenades, calissons, and seasonal delicacies — shared in warm conversation with the producers.

What could have been a predictable shore excursion became a tapestry of discoveries: art, architecture, sea, wine, and local life. As they returned to their ship to continue their cruise, Steve and Deborah carried with them the feeling that France was no longer just a place of checklist sights, but a world of memories they would treasure forever.
