Strasbourg

Strasbourg Jewish Heritage. Enjoy a private tour with your guide, expert in Jewish history and local culture, and explore Strasbourg’s Jewish landmarks, including the Great Synagogue, the ancient mikveh, and Holocaust memorials, while learning about local traditions and the tragic Valentine’s Day Massacre.

Historic center & key landmarks. Take a walking tour through the city, passing emblematic sites such as Strasbourg Cathedral, Place Kléber, and the “Jewish Bridge,” while discovering memorial plaques that recount the persecution and reestablishment of the Jewish community.

Medieval Jewish quarter. Stroll through the former Jewish ghetto near Rue des Juifs, and learn about the early community, its expulsions, and the events surrounding the Black Death era.

      Established in the early 14th century, this cemetery is one of the oldest and largest in Alsace, with over 6,000 gravestones spanning more than six centuries. It served surrounding villages without burial grounds, and its inscriptions in Hebrew, German, and French trace the evolution of Jewish life from medieval times to the modern era.

        Obernai & Synagogue

        In the charming medieval town of Obernai, find out about the broader development of rural Jewish communities in Alsace. Visit the 19th-century synagogue, built in 1876, which illustrates the period of emancipation and integration, and learn about the community’s growth, decline during WWII, and its legacy today.

          Colmar

          Colmar & Jewish Heritage. Continue to this beautifully preserved medieval town, known for its canal district, “Little Venice.” Visit the synagogue, built in 1832, and discover its distinctive design inspired by symbolic traditions, including a light feature tracking the sun’s path within the interior.

          Jewish Colmar Cemetery or Unterlinden Museum. Stop at the Jewish Cemetery of Colmar, dating back to the early 19th century and still in use today. Optionally, visit the Unterlinden Museum, which presents aspects of Jewish life in Alsace through ritual objects and historical displays.

          Return or overnight. Return to Strasbourg, or choose to stay overnight in Colmar at a charming Alsatian hotel for further exploration of Alsace.
