ITINERARY

Strasbourg – A Gateway to Alsace

Arrival in Strasbourg. Take a first class train from Paris (approximately 1h45min) or a nearby airport, and enjoy a private transfer to your charming boutique hotel.

Grande Île & historic center. Meet your guide and explore the UNESCO-listed Grande Île, wandering through half-timbered streets, canals, and cobbled lanes, and discovering emblematic squares such as Place Broglie and Place Kléber.

Strasbourg Cathedral. Visit the awe-inspiring Strasbourg Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with over 1,000 years of history and a soaring 142-meter spire.

German district & cultural identity. Stroll through the Neustadt (former German district, around Kaiserplatz) to better understand the rich and complex Alsatian identity shaped by French and German influences.

Petite France & Alsatian dinner. Conclude your visit in the picturesque Petite France district, then enjoy a traditional Alsatian dinner in a local winstub, paired with a glass of Riesling.

Evening experiences. For a memorable evening, opt for a scenic boat cruise along the Ill River, admire the Cathedral’s sound and light show, attend a jazz or classical performance at the Opéra national du Rhin or Artefact, or explore the lively bars of the Krutenau district.

    Medieval Villages & Castles

    Hilltop castles & panoramic views. Start your day with the guided tour of the majestic Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle, a beautifully restored 12th-century fortress offering sweeping views over the Alsace plain. Continue with a visit to the ruins of Château du Hohlandsbourg or Château de Kaysersberg, both revealing the strength and ingenuity of medieval military architecture.

    Scenic lunch. Enjoy a leisurely meal along the way, ideally at a charming vineyard inn wish traditional Alsatian dishes.

    Fairytale villages. Wander through Riquewihr and Eguisheim, two of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France,” known for their perfectly preserved half-timbered houses, cobbled streets, and vibrant floral displays.

    Overnight in Colmar. End your day in Colmar, a postcard-perfect town rich in history and charm, where you will stay overnight in a carefully selected hotel.

      Colmar and The Alsace Wine Route

      Morning in Colmar. Enjoy a morning tour of Colmar, once a Free Imperial City of the Holy Roman Empire. Stroll through its beautifully preserved medieval Old Town, admire the canals of Little Venice, browse the covered market, and marvel at the celebrated Isenheim Altarpiece at the Unterlinden Museum.

      Along the Alsace Wine Route. Follow the iconic Route des Vins d’Alsace, a 150-kilometer scenic trail through the foothills of the Vosges Mountains, lined with rolling vineyards, charming wine villages, and welcoming cellars.

      Wine tastings & regional flavors. Stop for tastings at family-run wineries in Ribeauvillé, Turckheim, and Hunawihr, sampling emblematic Alsatian varietals such as Gewürztraminer, Riesling, and Pinot Gris. Enjoy lunch at a vineyard inn featuring regional specialties such as choucroute garnie, tarte flambée, baeckeoffe, kougelhopf, or spaetzle.

      Obernai or wine heritage museum. Continue to Obernai, a charming medieval and Renaissance town crowned by its majestic belfry. Alternatively, visit the Musée du Vignoble et des Vins d’Alsace to deepen your understanding of the region’s rich wine heritage.

      Return to Colmar. Return to Colmar in the evening and enjoy another overnight stay in this elegant and atmospheric town.

        WWI Memory Tour

        WWI battlefield at Le Linge. Travel from Colmar and begin your day at the Linge Memorial and battlefield, where preserved trenches and bunkers reveal one of the fiercest battle sites in Alsace during 1915.

        Mountain farm lunch. Enjoy a traditional lunch at a Vosges mountain farm inn, once used by soldiers, and discover hearty regional cuisine in an authentic setting.

        Hartmannswillerkopf Memorial. Continue to the Hartmannswillerkopf Memorial, exploring its museum and taking in sweeping panoramic views over the former front lines.

        Return or extension. Return to Strasbourg in the late afternoon. From there, take an evening train back to Paris or choose to extend your stay in Alsace.
